Vehicle Collision Review Board
The City of North Charleston owns and operates through its employees over 480 motor vehicles. These vehicles are essential to the delivery of routine and emergency services to the citizens of North Charleston. Safe and proper operation of these vehicles is the direct responsibility of the operators, supervisors, and department heads. Collisions result in loss of production, time, and in many cases, the loss of personnel because of injuries. The establishment of the Vehicle Collision Review Board (VCRB) is to identify the cause of collisions; to establish responsibility; and to devise means to reduce the number of vehicle collisions involving city-owned vehicles. It is the responsibility of every employee who drives city-owned equipment to do so with as much or more care, attention, and consideration that would be used in the operation of a privately-owned vehicle. Every effort will be made by the City of North Charleston to provide and maintain safe, reliable equipment for its employees. This is an impossible task without the cooperation of the operators.
