North Charleston Farmers Market
The 2013 North Charleston Farmers Market opens April 18 and takes place every Thursday through October 31 on the grounds of the Felix Davis Community Center at 4800 Park Circle. The market offers an abundance of fresh, locally grown produce, as well as art & craft booths, food vendors, and entertainment. The Cultural Arts Department organizes the presentation of live music every 1st, 3rd, 4th and 5th Thursday and visual art demonstrations by local artist groups every 2nd Thursday. City of North Charleston July 4th Festival
Each year, the City hosts a fantastic July 4th celebration at North Charleston Riverfront Park. The Mayor kicks off the festivities with opening remarks at 3:00pm. Concerts and fun children's activities take place throughout the late afternoon and evening. A grand fireworks display over the water concludes the evening with a BANG! Harvest Festival & Block Party
Fall fun for all ages! Co-sponsored by the Olde North Charleston Merchants Association, the North Charleston Artist Guild, and the City of North Charleston. Admission and parking are free. Please note that East Montague Ave. will be closed to vehicular traffic from Jenkins Ave. to Virginia Ave. from 4-10pm.
6:00-7:30pm: Music by The Local Honeys
6:00-8:00pm: Kid friendly ghost stories by the Backporch Storytellers, a student art exhibit, kid’s crafts, carnival games and inflatables
6:00-9:00pm: Artist street market featuring booths by members of the North Charleston Artist Guild
7:30pm: Line-up for costume contest judging begins
8:00-10:00pm: Street dance featuring festive tunes by the V-Tones
Autumn treats will be available for purchase and many of the restaurants and bars in the Olde Village will offer additional programming and food and drink specials.
Other highlights include costume contests for children, adults and pets with prizes in several categories. The contests for children and adults are free to enter and prizes will be furnished by the City of North Charleston and the Olde North Charleston Merchants Association, respectively. The pet costume contest, sponsored by The Flats at Mixson, carries a $5 entry fee. Proceeds benefit the Charleston Animal Society, which will be on hand with an assortment of pets available for adoption. Tribute to Our Veterans
The City of North Charleston honors all veterans with a special program featuring guest speakers and entertainment. City of North Charleston Christmas Festival & Parade
Held on the first Saturday in December, this annual City event is a holiday gift to the community. Families, friends, and neighbors share the joys of the season through delightful entertainment, children’s activities, hay rides, arts & craft booths, festive food and decorations, thousands of twinkling lights, visits with Santa, and an evening parade. See the Felix Davis Community Center and the areas surrounding Park Circle transformed with lighted snowflakes, Christmas trees, and magical holiday scenes. Christmas Parade begins at 5:00pm. Admission and parking are free; ample space is available on the parking islands around Park Circle.
