Park Circle Ceramics

Park Circle Ceramics (PCC) offers a paint-your-own pottery experience for all ages and abilities. The studio is located at 1103 Marquis Road in North Charleston, situated in the bustling Park Circle neighborhood of North Charleston just around the corner from Park Circle Gallery, as well as a number of restaurants, bars/breweries, shops, parks, and other amenities. PCC offers open studio time, classes for seniors, adults and children, birthday parties, small group events, seasonal drop-in events, and more!

Hours are Wednesdays & Thursdays from 10:00am-7:00pm, Fridays from 10:00am-2:00pm, and Saturdays from Noon-4:00pm. PCC is closed Sunday-Tuesday. Click “Learn More” below for more information on the studio, upcoming classes, event bookings, and more.

Creative Arts Workshops

The City of North Charleston’s Cultural Arts Department invites adults to participate in Creative Arts Workshops held on the fourth Saturday of each month from 10:00am-12:00pm at the Art Studio at the Park Circle Community Building, located at 4800 Park Circle. Each interactive workshop is led by a different local artist and provides participants with a unique opportunity to learn new techniques in a relaxed atmosphere. Workshops range from basics of watercolor painting, to sweetgrass basket weaving, to polymer clay jewelry. Varying skill levels are welcome and the workshop fee includes materials. Upcoming Workshops & Camps

The Cultural Arts Department hosts workshops, classes, and camps in a wide variety of art disciplines on a regular basis. Registration is managed through Eventbrite. A minimum number of participants must be met in order for these programs to take place.

Workshop – Paint Just Like Bob Ross in One Day with Barbie Sawyer
Learn to paint a complete 16×20 oil painting with step-by-step guidance from Certified Ross Instructor®, Barbie Sawyer. Adult participants will learn the Bob Ross Wet-on-Wet Technique® as seen on more than 300 PBS stations throughout the US. All materials provided no experience necessary.

Half-Day Summer Camp – Dance Explorers with Angie Baker of ABC Dance
Children aged 5 to 10 years old will be introduced to basic ballet and jazz technique using creative movement exercises, games, and an arts and crafts activity. Campers should bring their own snack.

Oil Painting with Elizabeth Northcut Williams – Session 1
Each four-week session is designed for students with any level of painting experience. Elizabeth Northcut Williams provides a nurturing environment for sharing material techniques and design principles. Students will practice painting from life as well as using their own photos for source material. Students must provide their own supplies from the material list provided by the instructor.

West African (Nubian) Drum Class with Rajeeyah B. Mujahid School of the Arts
Participants in this monthly class will learn African drum techniques and rhythms from veteran instructor and performer Rajeeyah B. Mujahid. Students will be introduced to a variety of African instruments including the djembe, dunun, sticks, shaker, and cowbell. This class is open to all ages, children age four and older through adults. Families are encouraged to sign up together. Students are invited to bring their own djembe drum, or plan to use the drums provided. No drum experience necessary.
Fee: $25 for individuals, Families with two or more students: $20 per registered family member.

Ecstatic Dance for People of Color – Divine Tempo
Divine Tempo is an ecstatic dance group formed in collaboration with Ecstatic Dance Charleston specifically catered to Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC). Join us as we move, groove, and connect with our bodies and community in a space that celebrates our cultures and experiences. Whether you’re new to Ecstatic Dance or a seasoned mover, Divine Tempo welcomes everyone in the BIPOC community to express yourself freely and feel the rhythm of your soul.

Workshop – Custom Mixed Media Wall Hanging with North Charleston Artist-in-Residence Shayn Green
Under the instruction of North Charleston Artist-in-Residence Shayn Green, participants age 10+ will be able to design, paint, decorate, and hand stitch their own wall hanging. Students can model their design after Shayn’s “Big Nose Baddie” series or paint their favorite character or other design of their choice. Wall hangings will be embellished with recycled fabrics and other trinkets. All materials provided, no experience necessary.
