On Tuesday, the North Charleston Police Department K-9 Unit performed an impressive demonstration at Fort Dorchester Elementary School. The students were thrilled to see the many different breeds of dogs used in law enforcement and learn about the specific skills each one provides to keep the community safe. From weapons detection and narcotics detection to criminal apprehension, the K-9s showed off their impressive abilities in front of the students. The officers and their K-9 partners also interacted with the students, leading to great questions about being a police officer. A special thank you goes out to the Summerville Police Department for bringing Dorchester District Two’s weapons detection K-9 to the demonstration and educating the students on how he helps keep the children safe at school. Overall, it was an excellent day of learning and having fun. Thanks for the invite!
