Today, NCPD is observing National Peace Officers Memorial Day as part of National Police Week. The observance pays tribute to the law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty.
Our agency is honoring our two fallen heroes: Officer Robert Anthony “Tony” Way (EOW 2-18-1985). Officer Way was shot and killed by an armed suspect while responding to an alarm at a business. Officer Way returned fire and killed the suspect.
K-9 Mojo (EOW 2-15-2018): Mojo’s handler was responding to a call with all emergency equipment activated when another vehicle attempted to turn left in front of him, causing a collision. Mojo passed away at a hospital. The driver who caused the crash was charged with Felony DUI.
Officer Way and K-9 Mojo will never be forgotten.
