The third annual Butch Barfield Golf Classic took place yesterday at the Golf Club at Wescott Plantation. The tournament is held in honor of William “Butch” Barfield, who retired as a Deputy Police Chief with our agency and then served as the city’s Emergency Preparedness Director before succumbing to cancer after an 18 month battle.
Following his passing, The Butch Barfield Foundation was established to give back to the community. Some of the proceeds from the tournament will provide scholarships to high school students living in North Charleston, and the foundation will also make donations to the Liberty Hill Literacy Program. Thank you to everyone who participated!
