Crime continues to decline in North Charleston

NCPD is pleased to announce that our violent and non-violent crime rates have decreased for the first six months of 2024.
Violent crimes decreased 6%. The number of murders remained the same (10) compared to the same time frame in 2023. There was a 5% decrease in aggravated assaults. However, the number of aggravated assaults involving firearms went up by 5%. Robberies increased by 4%. Business robberies increased by 133% (+8), while robberies of individuals decreased by 7%. Gun arrests are down by 9%. Rapes decreased significantly, down by 30% compared to the same time last year. Non-violent crimes showed an 11% decrease compared to last year. Overall, burglaries are down by 18%, with business burglaries down by 41%. DUI arrests are up by 38%, and narcotics arrests increased by 13%.
