On Sunday, April 9, more than 60 athletes competed in a Special Olympics swim meet at the Danny Jones pool. Over 100 family members and friends were in attendance cheering them on the entire way. Volunteers from Palmetto Masters helped time and run the meet.
In the future, the city will have greater capacity to host swim meets at the Aquatics Center to be constructed near Fort Dorchester High School. The public swim center is being built in partnership with Dorchester County School District 2 and the City of North Charleston.
