The Uniform Patrol Division, under the direction of Deputy Chief Scott Perry is staffed with 165 certified officers and 23 civilian personnel totaling 188 positions. The division is divided into three decentralized Bureaus, which are named and located strategically in the South, Central, and North end of the city. Through progressive strategies to include COMPSTAT and Zone Officers, the division works together with the community and other three divisions of the department to reduce crime and build community trust within the City of North Charleston. The Patrol Division also includes the Animal Control Unit.
Central Bureau
The Central Bureau is under the command of Captain Sid Lewis and is located at 2500 City Hall Lane. Neighborhoods within the Central Bureau include the Palmetto Gardens, Cameron Terrace, Liberty Hill, Liberty Park, Park Circle, Charleston Farms, Russeldale, Ferndale, Singing Pines, Morningside, Oak Terrace Preserve, Palmetto Heights, Glynn Terrace, Covington Hills, Jericho on the Ashley, Whitfield on the Ashley, Evanston Estates, Oakgrove, North Pointe, Ashley Villas, and Midland Park. The Bureau is staffed with a secretary and is operational Monday – Friday during normal business hours.
