The City of North Charleston provides a Middle School Athletic Program to accommodate Middle School athletes in District 4 Middle Schools. Programs offered include Track and Field, Volleyball, Soccer, Step Team, and Basketball. Track and Field, Basketball, Soccer are offered to both boys and girls. Schools currently participating in the Middle School Program are Northwoods Middle, Military Magnet, Morningside Middle, Deer Park Middle School, Meeting Street Academy at Brentwood and Jerry Zucker Middle School of Science. Participants must play for the middle school which they attend. A parent or legal guardian is required at registration. Cash is not accepted at registration; only checks, money orders, or cashier checks are accepted.

BASKETBALL • BOYS & GIRLS
Ages: 12–15 as of March 31, 2023
Registration: Month of November

The Basketball program begins in January. Each player receives a basketball uniform representing their school, and must register at and play for the school they attend.
TRACK & FIELD
Ages: 12–15 as of May 31, 2023
Registration: Month of March
Registration fee: $15

The Track & Field program registers the month of March. Track and Field meets are held on the 3rd Saturday in April and the 3rd Saturday in May. Events include the 50m, 100m, 200m, and 400m dash; the 4x100m relay; the 800m and 1600m run; Standing Long Jump and Softball Throw. The Recreation Department provides each participant with a t-shirt representing their school. Each student must register at and play for the school they attend.
VOLLEYBALL
Ages: 12–15 as of December 31, 2023
Registration: First two weeks of school

The Middle School Girls’ Volleyball program begins in mid-September. Each student must register at and play for the school they attend. Team t-shirts are provided.
SOCCER – BOYS & GIRLS

The Soccer program begins its season in mid-April. Team shirts and shorts, representing each school, are issued and players must provide their own shin guards and cleats. Each student must register at and play for the school they attend.
